9781449461966_03_interior.480x480-75Big Nate is so popular that he’s a regular star on the New York Times Best Sellers List. In 2013 he became the star of his own musical too! This comic, which became nationally syndicated in 1991, is all about not-so-tall eleven-year-old Nate Wright, a kid who believes there’s nothing he can’t do. He’s super confident, perhaps cocky, always sarcastic and can sure talk his way out of trouble- something he finds himself in more often than not. What he really wants to be is a cartoonist. In Big Nate: The Crowd Goes Wild Nate is up to some new antics with his buddies. He offers the school principal one suggestion after another, plays some baseball, still has a crush on Jenny, becomes his dad’s personal trainer, has an awesome summer and is at a loss for words in the fall when his teacher asks him to write a list of all the books he read over the summer. Kids love Nate because he acts out his thoughts, and although he is a bit of a troublemaker, he’s got good intentions. Big Nate: The Crowd Goes Wild will delight Nate fans, leaving them eager for the next Nate book to come out.

Bonus: There’s a fold-out poster in the back of the book.

Peanuts comics are so widely celebrated, they simply need no introduction. This new book features the best and most popular baseball-related scenes in the long running comic strip, which began in 1950. His team may be on a losing streak but ever-hopeful Charlie Brown thinks they can still win the game and does all he can to keep this friends from giving up.  All the gang is here on the baseball field, including Snoopy, the canine shortstop and the coolest pooch in town. In the back of the book is an awesome diagram of all the positions the peanuts characters play, a description of all the positions, instructions on how to make your own pennant, facts about Charles M. Schulz and his museum, a lesson on how comics can reflect life and websites to explore. Charlie Brown gives us all hope that if we plow ahead, no matter how defeated we feel, we’re going to win in the end.

Bonus: There’s flip-the-pages animation and a fold-out poster too.

1 Thought.

  1. Who doesn’t love the wisdom of Charlie Brown? It has something I have loved forever. And I remember when ‘Nate the Great’ was popular his first time around. So great that the new generation has a chance to enjoy his new adventures.
